Why choose Business Studies?

The course has been designed to offer the student an understanding of the following subjects: how businesses work; how the world around them affects decision-making within a business; what leads to change and how businesses deal with these issues; and the range of perspectives that can be taken on business activities.

It also helps develop a range of important and transferable skills such as: data skills, presenting arguments, making recommendations on the basis of the available evidence, and problem solving.

About the course

This business course is delivered in two units – each of which is then divided into several lessons. The lessons have references to the relative textbooks and selected websites. At the end of each lesson, there is a set of self check questions which should be used to aid in the learning process – students can check that they are able to answer these questions following each units lesson. There are also various assignments that are required in order to complete the course, these will need to be sent to your tutor for marking. Business studies is a very integrated subject and students are encouraged to see how each lesson inter-connects and builds upon the previous lessons. The knowledge gained from the AS course will be useful and applicable within the A2 course.
